Under the guidance of Dr. N. Mahalingam, the Chairman of Sakthi Group, Sri. A. V. Giri, Brother-in-law of Dr. N. M started ABT Parcel Service in October 1964.

The division was started with just 4 vehicles. Pursuing its growth objective it acquired "The Hindustan Transports" in 1965 adding 22 more vehicles through the acquisition. The numbers have been growing ever since.

ABT started to focus more on the this business after the nationalisation of buses in 1972. Today, ABT Parcel Service is providing employment to over 2000 people directly and 5000 people indirectly through more than 500 very reliable and trust worthy agents operating under 11 logistics hubs across Tamilnadu, Andhra, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharastra, Goa and Gujarat states, besides the union territory of Puducherry.

The company has a fleet size of 600 trucks They carry more than 1,00,00,000 articles weighing 2,50,000 tonnes worth Rs. 4000 crores every year. These vehicles are fitted with the latest of technology for effective tracking through GPRS.

ABT been the favourite logistics provider for brands like Godrej, Colgate Palmolive, Cadbury, Heinz India, Karnataka Soaps and Detergents, Lakshmi Machine Works, State Bank of India, Johnson & Johnson and many others for more than a decade.

Express / Courier Service

The post economic liberalization era in India has seen markets open-up to accommodate increased and quicker supply of goods. It has also necessitated reliability of the transport sector to induct it within Industrial Manufacturing and Supply Chain. That means the goods transport sector must assume the role of a Logistics Service Provider to support the Supply Chain. With this objective "ABT Express" was started in the year 2002 to provide Speed Cargo Service. Since then it has been providing customized services to its clients in the cargo segment.

Passenger Bus Service (ABT, NIA)

It was on the 28th of August 1931 in Tamilnadu, Sri P Nachimuthu Gounder founded ABT – "The Anamallais Bus Transport Limited", a passenger transport company.

The Company started the service with 21 buses. By the year 1972 ABT grew to its maximum fleet size of 150 buses, effectively operational in 110 routes in and around Coimbatore, until it wrapped up the service owing to nationalization of passenger bus transportation. The ABT for long enjoyed the good will, reputation and trust from people and is definitely one of the robust and trusted brands of the group.

As part of the ABT group the Passenger transport operations of the company NIA was begun in the year 1957. It was started with 35 buses (29 route buses and 6 spare buses) and was operating both town and moffusil buses in and around Coimbatore and Pollachi.

The operations earned goodwill, reputation and trust from people due to its good, prompt and safety service. Later in the year 1985, conceding public request Tourist Services was started. Passenger Transport operations are also carried out as a division in most of our concerns and are fondly called by the public as NIA service.

At present the Passenger Bus Service, ABT and NIA together have 21 buses which include 5 tour buses and 2 spare buses operating across 10 town bus routes.
