Nachimuthu Industrial Association (NIA)

Guided by the vision of his father, Arutchelvar.Dr. N. Mahalingam founded the Nachimuthu Industrial Association Trust in the year 1956 to provide technical education to aspiring youth. This eventually expanded into offering quality education right from schooling to engineering. Over a span of 50 years NIA has branched out to many streams of education reaching out to even rural students to explore and gain knowledge in the fast-paced world.

Polytechnic Colleges

Nachimuthu Polytechnic College :

The Nachimuthu Polytechnic College (NPTC) is a Government aided co-educational Institution established in the year 1957. It is affiliated to the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Govt. of Tamilnadu.

It has 12 Diploma programs and one Post Diploma program with a strength of around 1300 students.

The Institute was granted full autonomous status from the start of the academic year 1991-92 and was awarded ISO 9001:2000 certification in the year December 2001 by STQC, Government of India, New Delhi.


Sakthi Polytechnic College :

The Sakthi Polytechnic College was established in the year 1982 to promote technical education to rural youth. This polytechnic is a reputed Government aided college approved by AICTE.

It offers 9 Diploma programs with a total strength of around 1300 students, most of them hailing from rural areas. It has 95 Teaching & Non-Teaching staff.

The Institution celebrated its Silver Jubilee in the academic year 2005-06. The Institute also conducted value added programs under Community Polytechnic Scheme and Canada-India Institutional Co-operation Project in which more than 8000 rural folk got benefited under various schemes.

ABT Info Systems Private Limited is a Franchisee for NIIT and NIS for imparting Computer Education and training in Marketing at three locations and train 2900 students every year.


College :

Dr.Mahalingam College of Engineering & Technology, Pollachi :

MCET, established in the year 1998 is a private, self financing, co-educational institution approved by the All India Council for Technical Education ( AICTE ) and is affiliated to the Anna University. The college offers 8 Engineering and 3 Applied Science undergraduate programmes in various disciplines and 5 postgraduate programmes and 2 doctoral programmes. The institute has been awarded with ISO 9001:2000 certificate by TUV Rhineland. The college endeavours to impart high quality, competency based technical education in Engineering and Technology to the younger generation with the required skills and abilities to face the challenging needs of the industry around the globe.

The college has excellent infrastructure with well equipped, state-of-the-art labs, 24 mbps internet connectivity with 16 Mbps, intranet, linking more than 1500 computers with Optic Fibre Cables (OFC). More than 13 Value Added centres ( VAC ) are established in the MCET campus, in partnership with world famous knowledge and skill providers.

To facilitate the formulation and conduct of collaborative research efforts among the members of research establishments, and as a means to achieve interoperability among the innovations of different organizations, Memorandum of Understanding was signed by our college with the following International universities: Edith Cowan University (ECU), Perth, Western Australia (2003), Cambrian College of Applied Arts and Technology, Sudbury, Canada (2005), Cape Breton University (CBU), Nova Scotia (2006), University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Manitoba. (2006), College of the North Atlantic, New Foundland, Canada and George Brown College, Toronto. Faculty Members are sent to those universities for collaborative research and lectures.


Kumaraguru College of Technology : :

It is a well renowned private Engineering college started in the year 1984 under the auspices of Ramanandha Adigalar Foundation, a charitable educational trust of the Sakthi Group.

The College is an Autonomous institution affiliated to the Anna University, Coimbatore. The campus is spread on a sprawling 150 acres of land. The college has the approval of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

The college offers 12 under-graduate (B.E., B.Tech.), 13 post-graduate (M.E., M.Tech., MCA, MBA), 8 Ph.D. programs and 10 eligible UG programs have also been accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The college is also accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of UGC.

It has 15 academic departments and 4 research centres each headed by a competent and experienced professor. Altogether the college has over 225 well-qualified teaching staff and about 200 supporting technical staff. The combined student intake is about 1100 every year.


Vanavarayar Institute of Agriculture (started in the year 2007) :

The Vanavarayar Institute of Agriculture was established in the year 2007. It offers 2 year Diploma and 4 year Bachelor degree courses in Agriculture.

The college has 5 departments with Green Buildings, over 150 students and staff strength of 10 faculties. It runs Environmental friendly farmers training with project based research activities.


Nallamuthu Gounder Mahalingam College:

The College was established on the 12th of July 1957 by Shri C. Subramaniam, former Minister of Finance.

The College is located inside a sprawling campus of 26 acres. It has 2600 students and 228 staff members.

The College has been developed into a premier Postgraduate teaching and Research Institution, offering 41 different programs including UG, PG and Research.

The Silver Jubilee of the college was celebrated with all pomp and fervor during February 1984. The college was conferred autonomy status by UGC in the year 1987. It was also awarded the ISO 9001:2000 Certification by the TUV.


Kumaraguru Institute of Agriculture (KIA):

Kumaraguru Institute of Agriculture, the brainchild of Arutchelvar Padmabhushan Dr. N. Mahalingam was started in September 2014 with the main aim of imparting agricultural education to rural youth. The primary objective of this institution is to tinge agriculture with technology to improve food production, to introduce novel and innovative methods in agriculture, to make agriculture viable and self supportive. The institute carries with it the long standing tradition of Sakthi group of companies and the able backup from the experience gained by Sakthi group organizations. The institution has been sponsored by Sakthi Foundation, the charitable trust promoted by Sakthi Sugars Limited to carry out rural developmental programmes. B.Sc. (Honours) Agriculture / B.Sc. (Agriculture)

KIA offers B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture / B.Sc. (Agriculture) Course of 4 years duration.

Eligibility for Admission

A pass in the 12th standard Academic stream under Board of Higher Secondary Education of Government of Tamil Nadu / Central Board of Secondary Education / Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations / other State Government Boards / other recognised International Boards.

Candidates who have studied any one of the following groups are eligible to apply:

Group I: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Group II: Physics, Chemistry and Biology with a fourth (elective) subject of any relevant science having marks (not Grades).

Group II (A): Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology.


Social Development Activities

Sakthi Pura:

PURA (Providing Urban amenities in Rural Areas) is a notable program initiated by His Excellency, the former President of India Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam.

The perspective of the program is enhancement of living standards in villages. This is achieved by facilitating access to all the basic facilities like Roads, Water, Lighting, School, Communication, Healthcare and Employment Opportunities in rural areas. In turn it will check the migration from rural areas to urban with urban like facilities and improved income generation available within rural folds.


NIA Vocational Training Institute:

SAKTHI PURA was taken up by Nachimuthu Industrial Association (NIA) Educational Institutions. It was launched by the former President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on the 19th of December 2006 at Pollachi. Dr.MCET through its Extension Services Department has undertaken the PURA activities in Pollachi region in 5 cluster villages. They are grouped into 5 clusters based on geographical area.

The Five Clusters are:

  • Kanjampatti
  • Sangampalayam
  • Kovilpalayam
  • Negamam
